Claire has been swimming competitively since the age of 9. She currently holds a number of World and European records and is one of our big medal hopefuls for London 2012.
Here are just a few of her achievements to date:
- 2004 Athens Paralympic Games: two Bronze medals 100 Backstroke and 200 IM.
- 2008 Beijing Paralympic Games: Bronze medal 100 Breastroke.
- 2011 Paralympics World Cup: Silver 100 Breaststroke, Bronze 50 free.
- 2011 European Championships: Gold in 4×100 freestyle relay (European record), Gold in 4×100 Medley relay (World record), Silver in 100 Breaststroke, Bronze in 200 I.M and 100 Fly.
Claire has had laser hair removal treatment at Freedom Clinics in Leeds and here is what she had to say about her experience:
“As a Paralympic swimmer, hair growth under my arms can be unsightly – it affects my confidence and performance. Shaving has its limitations, particularly as I have only 1 hand – it can be a difficult procedure! Since having laser hair removal at Freedom Clinics, it had transformed my routine. It was completely painless and I was really impressed with how effective, safe and simple the procedure was. Being hair free makes me feel good, and feeling good on the starting block is very important for my confidence.”
