What is Shockwave therapy?

Shock waves are audible high-energy sound waves. In the medical world, shock waves have been used since 1980, for example, to disintegrate kidney stones. In modern pain therapy, shock wave energy is applied to painful body regions, where it can accelerate the healing process, stimulate metabolism, and improve blood circulation. Damaged tissue gradually regenerates and eventually heals.

Many years of experience have confirmed that pathological alterations of tendons, ligaments, capsules, muscles, and bones – in other words the root causes of pain – can be eliminated systematically with this innovative therapy approach. It is a highly effective procedure to treat pain and restore full mobility with minimal risks or side effects.

How is the treatment performed?

A skin gel is applied to the treatment area to allow the shock waves to be introduced into the body almost painlessly and without any loss of energy. Shock waves are then applied as the shock wave applicator is moved over the pain region in a circular motion.
